Launch: Saturday 2nd May 1-3pm
Gallery: Upper and Lower Galleries
Artist: Sharon Kelly and Frédéric Huska
We’re pleased to invite you to the launch of two new exhibitions; by Sharon Kelly in the Upper Gallery and by Frédéric Huska in the Lower Gallery. Please join us on from 1-3pm on Saturday 2nd May for a glass of wine with the artists, and an opportunity to be the first to explore these two beautiful and powerful exhibitions.
Traces of A Traumatic Future by Frédéric Huska presents black and white analogue photographs of Taiwan’s coastline, places shaped by political tension and uncertainty. The project focuses on fourteen beaches identified as possible landing sites in the event of invasion, suggesting futures that may never happen, yet still influence how we see the present. Huska reflects on time, memory and how images carry traces of both past and future.
Disposal of Fullness by Sharon Kelly presents new work using worn clothing, vintage sewing patterns, and other delicate materials to explore traces of past lives and contemplate what is missing or left unfulfilled. Kelly reflects on what remains hidden or unnoticed and how such absences shape our sense of identity and connection to the world around us.
