Our free creative workshops for teens & adults take place in our Community & Engagement Hub on the second Saturday of every month.
This month we will explore making relief prints, in traditional Celtic knot designs. Interlaced ‘endless’ knot designs are most famous for their use in Christian monuments and manuscripts, such as the Book of Kells and the Lindisfarne Gospels. But in fact spiral, woven and plaited patterns were motifs used in Celtic art across Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall and even Brittany, long before the arrival of Christianity. Symbols of interwoven shapes and lines, without beginning or end, are found in almost all ancient cultures and traditions. Come along and explore this art of connection with us!
Workshops are facilitated by Katharine Paisley, Jen Alexander and our lovely volunteers. All materials are provided, along with snacks* & drinks.
Please note: although workshops are free, places must be booked via this link.
*Halal / vegan snacks also available.
