Born in Harrogate, England in 1962 and raised in Adelaide, South Australia, Gary Shaw came to Belfast in 1997 to complete his Master of Fine Art studies at the University of Ulster. He first came to prominence for his series of paintings based on the colourful silks worn by jockeys and maritime signal flags.  He has exhibited widely all over the world and his work is held in many private and public collections.
